It looks cheesy, shallow, over-the-top, and ridiculous with an absurd level of obvious product placement.
BUT!
But...
It has motherfucking Optimus-fucking-Prime riding a giant goddamn metal robot T-Rex while wielding a huge motherfucking sword!
Which means only one thing: If I don't see this movie, in 10 years I'm going to be living down by the river in a panel van with this scene airbrushed onto the side:

I love how every comment I've seen on this movie so far has included something along the lines of
Movie sucks because of X, Y, Z followed by....

Ok, so if this really is Grimlock, then why is he 20 times larger than Prime? I know Dinobots are larger but this big?! Where is Swoop, Snarl, Slag and Sludge? I saw something flying so that might be Swoop?

So, it's going to be exactly like the first three movies?
Not criticizing you, but seriously what the fuck do people expect? The series to magically turn into an oscar winning best picture nominee?!
And the product placement whining is sooooo dumb. That has literally occurred from day one of this series. Every autobot has been a GM. This isn't new, this isn't worse than before, it's literally the same.
Who cares, it's going to be an awesome summer movie. Is the plot going to be dumb and cheesy, the action over the top, the acting terrible? Yes. And I and millions of other people will stand in line on a Friday afternoon to enjoy every second of it

While I would like to see more of an homage to the by gone Dinos I just don't see them not getting the HUGE ASS ROBOT treatment from Mr. Bay. I can easily see it having one of the biggest budgets of any movie that comes out this year simply because animating that huge bastard has to cost a friggen mint and I'm ok with that. The third movie irked me for a bit but then I thought about it and asked myself just why I watch the movies. Is it for the plot or well constructed characters and dialogue? Hell the fuck no. It's to hear Peter Cullen spew catch lines and phrases from the original show and watch giant fucking robots explode and blow shit up! For that I thank you Mr. Bay!

I'll expand, also: the third one was so 'meh' that I was fully expecting to have absolutely zero reason to bother seeing this new one. The new casting didn't help.

You found the third one 'meh'? I liked the third one, much more than the second. I thought Shockwave was sufficiently badass, enough to makeup for the total wimpification of Soundwave (I mean really Michael Bay, Soundwave has no business being a retarded Mercedes)
I'm only seeing this one for the Sonic.
